CONVERSION OF A PRIVATE MOTOR VEHICLE FOR COMMERCIAL USE

The attention of the management of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has been drawn to the practice where vehicles that have been registered to operate as private vehicles are converted for commercial purposes or commercial vehicles are converted for private purposes, either consciously or unconsciously, by vehicle owners without recourse to the DVLA.

The Authority wishes to remind the general public, particularly vehicle owners, that vehicles that are registered to operate privately can only be converted for commercial use or vice versa only upon application to the DVLA and the payment of the approved fees for the conversion.

The Authority advises all vehicle owners to be guided by this legal requirement, when converting our vehicles, so we do not fall foul of the law.
